A sip and shade coffee shop that takes advantage of a path between the College of Design and the College of Visual Arts to create a space of connection and collaboration

The Path was widened to provide a bike lane. Wooden Spines line the path to provide opportunities for shade and to embolden the connection to the native trees of the Path. One could think of these spines as branches that connect the college of design to the school of visual arts and studies.

Concrete columns line the path to further bring attention to the importance of the trees further down the path. this arcade of columns also brings emphasis to the School of visual arts and studies smoke stack, the other primary vertical element in the area.

Exploratory frame model that later informed the path's arcade and use of shadow

Rough spatial study model which influenced a decision to give the shop and overhanging porch amongst the paths trees.
